About Enginectra
We are an MEP engineering consulting firm based in Calgary, Canada. We design mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering plans for commercial, restaurant, and residential projects in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Ontario. We are a small, focused team that strives for one-week turnarounds.
The Role
You will work directly with the Lead Engineer (Daniel Delgado) and the Technical Manager (Daniel Roa) to manage document flow, quality assurance, and the coordination of engineering projects.
This is not a design role—you won't be sizing ductwork or designing electrical systems. However, you must understand the content of those drawings to ensure their completeness, track revisions, and coordinate between the design team and the lead engineer.
Important note: Enginectra is a Canadian company, and all work—communications, documentation, and coordination with clients—is conducted in English. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential for this role.
Main Responsibilities
Plan Coordination and Quality Control
- Review sets of mechanical and electrical drawings to verify integrity, consistency, and code compliance before delivery to the customer.
- Maintain QA checklists for IFBP (Issued For Building Permit) deliverables
- Identify and point out coordination problems between the mechanical and electrical disciplines
- Ensure that title blocks, programs, notes, and specifications are accurate and consistent across all drawings
Documentation and Revision Management
- Manage the documentation flow from design to review and delivery
- Track plan revisions in Airtable, recording status, responsible party, and date
- Maintain the file structure in OneDrive following Enginectra's naming conventions
- Verify that the "Issued For Review" and "Issued For Building Permit" packages are complete before submitting.
Project Monitoring and Communication
- Coordinate daily task assignments with the Technical Manager during busy weeks
- Manage handovers between the receiving, design, review, and delivery stages
- Prepare weekly status updates for the Lead Engineer on all active projects
- Respond to and follow up on RFIs (Requests for Information) from general contractors
Process Improvement and AI Integration
- Identify recurring QA problems and propose process improvements
- Help build and maintain reusable checklists and templates
- Support AI-assisted QA reviews using Claude or ChatGPT for conflict detection
- Document workflows as SOPs to make processes repeatable
